Here is another one you would think. On Nostalgia, on memories, on time spent here. I also feel the same way when I see a blog posted with this heading. As a matter of fact whenever I see a "Blog Updated" status of any final year nowadays I start getting a feeling of this Nostalgism. More than 9 out of 10 times I have guessed it right(that's 100% in mathematics).
What do people look for when they read these 'Nostalgic blogs'? What do they pay attention to? What really interests them to read some 100 lines in every blog? The answer is simple. Nothing. Yes they look for nothing except them. They try and form a picture in their minds and then think "Can this really happen? Has this happened to me during my stay here?". The answer to these questions is also a simple one. Yes. Most of the things that people write in their 'Nostalgic blogs' happened with all of us in some form or the other. And that's precisely the reason why these blogs are hot reading these days. We get to relive all the moments we have spent here, good as well as bad ones. Moments that defined our friendship and bonding with people here. We would not be able to meet many of those friends ever in the future. But these memories will keep reminding them of the golden time we spent together.
Before I end this blog of mine I would really like to mention some people with special awards. These people formed a core of my life here in IIT.
chutiyapa award: chochu
bandibaji award: abhijeet
fattu award: chom
harampa award: karan
bhat room award: prem
yo oena award: rathi, beti, karan, dumbo
I know I have missed many names here but it's just because I couldn't think of any award for them.

Personality unmatched
From what me and his other friends have seen of him he definitely deserves a blog of this quality or probably even better.
He is a kiddo and that too a girly one. He has done so many 'chutiyaps' during his stay here in IIT Kgp that it will take more space than a Sidney Sheldon novel. As a matter of fact I can start a blog 'series' on him to be published weekly with all his friends as authors. But what I am going to do in this blog is just tell you some of the recent 'chutiyaps'.
Tha date was 9th March, Sunday. After the basky practice he asked me and abhijeet to come with him to Kolkata for his French visa interview. After sometime we decided that both of us will accompany him as none of us had any important class to attend. And thus the journey began.
Chutiyaps no. 1
The date was 10th March, Monday. We took a train to Kolkata. There was a pretty hot girl with a full blown make-up sitting right in front of him. Initially he wasn't even looking at her. When we forced him to look at her he just saw her from the corner of his eyes and that too with so much blushing that we couldn't stop laughing after his reply, "Abe wo shaadi shuda lag rahi hai, itna make-up karke baithi hai"
Chutiyaps no. 2
As we were in the train I asked him,
me - "pehle kahan jana hai?"
him - "pehle chocks-off(travel agent) fir French embassy"
me - "kahan hai chocks-off"
him - "nahi pata"
me & abhijeet - :O
me - "aur french embassy?"
him - "wo bhi nahi pata"
me & abhijeet - :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
him - "abe adress lena bhool gaya"
Finally we decided that we will call somebody in Kgp to give us the address
Chutiyaps no. 3
After reaching Kolkata
abhijeet - "phone karo kisi ko. poocho address"
him - "ritesh ko karta hun"
me - "karan ko karta hun"
abhijeet - "main chom ko karta hun"
We got the address of the travel agent but the address wasn't clear to us. We didn't knew how to get there.
me - "chocks off ka no. lete hain chom se aur phone karte hain"
him - "abe chocks-off ka no. toh hai mere pass"
me & abhijeet - "#^$%#$^%#&$%&$&(()/*-"
Chutiyaps no. 4
abhijeet - "abe cv laya hai embassy ke liye"
him - "shit bhool gaya"
abhijeet - "$#%$$&$%*&.....chal ke printout lete hain tere mail se"
him - "haan theek hai"
After coming out of the cyber cafe
me - "address dekha embassy ka"
him - "abe nahi bhool gaya"
me - "#^$#^%&$&.......chal ke chocks-off waale se hi pooch lete hain"
him - "ok"
Chutiyaps no. 5
After reaching French embassy
Nusrat(girl at french embassy) - "give me all the documents I will tell you the time of the interview"
him - "ok"
nusrat - "give me the demand draft also"
him - "which draft?"
me & abhijeet - (holding our heads and looking at each other)
nusrat - "you need to submit a draft of Rs 4000"
him - "ok"
then we asked her the nearest sbi branch
At the bank after waiting for half an hour we were told that the draft machine is not working. Then we went to the Union Bank where they were enjoying their lunch. His interview was scheduled at 2:45pm. Nusrat even called her from the French embassy to remind him of the time. But we had no choice but to wait for the lunch break to get over. It was almost 3:30 when we got back to the French Embassy.
nusrat - "you filled the form I gave you"
him - "yes"
nusrat - "but you haven't written the registration no."
him - "which registration no.?"
me & abhijeet - (again holding our heads and looking at each other)
nusrat - "you have to register on a website"
him - "i don't know"
nusrat - "do it now from a cyber cafe, it's a long form, don't fill the entire form just register first"
him - "ok"
him(to us) - "chalo cyber cafe"
abhijeet(to nusrat) - "can we do it here only in the embassy"
nusrat - "ok"
Chutiyaps no. 6
We didn't eat anything from the morning and it was almost 4:30pm. So it was his turm now to give us a treat. We went to the south city mall and headed straight towards the eating zone. After looking at the food outlets.....
him - "mujhe dosa khana hai"
me - "yahan aake bhi dosa hi khana hai tujhe"
him - "bhook lag rahi hai, acha 1 kaam karte hain thali le lete hain"
abhijeet - "ab aage kuch mat bolna, hum log jo order denge wohi khana padega"
then we ordered 3 pasta and a pizza plus 2 cold drinks. There were quite a few hotties sitting around but his statement to all of them, "abe sab chaman lag rahi hain". Me and abhijeet knew that he is hopeless now.
Then we did some shopping for secret persons which is not to be revealed here. Then we took a taxi to the station. He was sleeping on my shoulder. Suddenly he jumped from his seat and woke up and the bags he was holding fell down. I asked, "kya hua?". His reply, "abe sapne mein lay-up(basky term) le liya".
What a character you must be thinking. But that's truly what our "CHOCHU" is.

Biggest Myth About Myself
Many people around me strongly believes that I have a girlfriend or other variable versions of the same topic. Like "he has a crush on somebody", "he doesn't want to tell us", "he has loved and lost it" etc etc. Many people have tried to enquire me on this topic and all those people have got umpteen different answers. Because the truth is, I don't have or in fact I never had any emotional attachment with any girl whatsoever.
It all started when I went for my internship after my second year to NIO, Goa. I went there with two of my friends from Kharagpur (Karan and Vivek/Beti). There were many others whom we met there only and soon we became a group consisting of Tamanna/TT, Jagruti, Arunima/Aru and Anurag/Allahabadi. These were not the only members with whom we had a cordial relationship. There were people from IIT Guwahati, Rahul from IITR and 2 special girls. One of them went on to become Karan's first 'real' girlfriend. These 2 girls were also there for the internship but the only thing that differentiated them from other girls in our group was that they were not Indians. These two girls came from the most romantic country on this planet France.
We stayed there in Goa for about 2 months from May 2006 to July 2006 and that summer was the best summer of our lives so far (I'm not sure about Aru and Jagruti though). Those waking up late in the morning, sitting in front of the computer throughout the day, attending crash course classes, visiting beaches during the weekends, shouting and jumping in the ocean water, roaming on the Panjim streets, sitting on the backside wall of the NIO guest house, feeling the wind blowing through our faces, fighting with faculty over the mess table, playing cards at night, sitting on the Miramar beach at nights, walking 5 kms along the beach and then returning back, watching tears trickle down the cheeks of a lovely senior(2 times to be exact :P), getting together during lunch and dinner, ordering 'gobhi manchurian' and 'curd' almost every night, watching world cup soccer matches in the guest house TV room, those CCD's, burger hangout, 'chaat' places, medical stores and the most beautiful and our very beloved Dona Paula Jetty.
That time came and went but in the midst of all that gave all of us a time to remember and cherish for the rest of our lives. For TT it was the time spent with us and couple of days with Katty, for Beti it was the time spent with Clarie, for Karan it was the time spent with Perrine (I have never seen a person in so much love with a person who is more than 7000 kms away), for me it was the time spent with all of them. There were many different incidents which were occurring around me, so probably I am the best person to describe all those events. I made some of my very good friends during that trip. And it was that friendship that was blown out of proportion by my own friends. It wasn't a big deal for me to handle because everybody does that with their friends.
As far as my 'lost opportunity' phrase is concerned, it wasn't meant for any of the above mentioned people. She was a girl in my colony and it's almost 10 years since I left that colony but we remained in regular contact until December 2006. We never had any formal relationship. So she was also just a friend of mine whom I missed a lot when she was gone. She died in a road accident on December 24, 2006.
I know it's pretty weird to end the blog in such a depressing note but can't help it. I had to clarify certain things to people around me.
P.S.: I went to Goa again in December 2007 during Christmas. And that blog is just below this one

Go Goa
It can get bigger but it can't get better than this. My trip to Goa from 23-28 December was one of the most amazing. And that trip ends an eventful year for me. Year 2007 was again a mixed bag year. With one good thing came one mishap. In summers it was a wonderful trip to California which came with an accident. And in winters it was a poor performance in Inter IIT Sports Meet which came with a wonderful second trip to Goa. And that's what I am going to write in this blog of mine.
Our journey started when I reached Goa from Mumbai on 23rd December. Tired from the journey we decided to visit only one place that day "Family Beach". Yes thats what we call Calangute Beach where you can find hundreds of families with almost no space to take a bath. We just took a stroll along the beach that evening (Ohh and the 'We' here signifies Karan, Prem and Me). That evening was spent with dinner and drinks on the beach.
Special Day 24th December
We started early in the morning and biked straight towards "Chumma Beach", I mean Anjuna Beach. We halted for sometime at Baga but that was only for eye refreshment. We took a long bath there at Anjuna because that's the only beach with no family affliction whatsoever. We took our dinner early and headed straight to Curlis because we never wanted to miss out on any moment of the Christmas night.
The road to Curlis was a nightmare to drive on. There wasn't even a hint of a road or a path on the way we were travelling. It consisted of all sorts of sand with no lights and people around to help. We would see a head/tail light of a vehicle far off and we would go in that direction. And that's how we reached Curlis. We walked into a small portion of the beach surrounded by rocks. There were alomost 50 people at that small place at around 8 PM with only 2-3 dim lights and 4 lanterns. The lanterns also were like a gift by "female drug merchants" who were sitting there on the beach with one corner assigned to each of them. The DJ (Goa Trance Music) was in full flow and within couple of hours that dance floor was filled with guys and girls completely out of their senses. There was no restriction and no shortage of any sort of drug commodity you wanted that night. We stayed there until 3 AM and it was total fun.
We spent the next three days roaming all over Goa. We visited Old Goa and Panjim Church on 25th December. Then we went to Vagator, Aguada Fort, Chapora Fort and Colva Beach during the next two days.
This visit to Goa brought back all the memories of my stay there during 2006. Both me and Karan used to point out places where we used to hang out in history. But this visit was special in its own terms. It was Christmas and Goa was flooded with tourists from all parts of the globe. Attending a RAV party was one of the never fading inscription of our minds. All three of us wanted to stay till New Year but our ever increasing expenses on food and drinks never allowed us to do that. Hence this leaves me to explore Goa once again during New Year. I don't know when will that trip be possible but it certainly won't be before next new year.
